1 Mile Swim Achieved!

Hello healthy fit bloggers,

I would like to just share with you that this evening I swam ONE MILE! As far as I can recall, this is the farthest distance that I swam. It took me about 1 hour and 10 minutes (or so) to swim this one mile. I encourage you all to swim to a mile, or if you have swim more. That's it for now, I"ll update you all when I get a chance.

Happy Swimming,

Daniel

A Day of Exercise: Walk, Swim, Walk some more!

Hello followers of my health n' fitness blog,

It's been a while since I posted here, and so I decided to update you all today because today I exercised a lot!  Here's a rundown of my exercise schedule today:

late morning-- around 11:45am to 12:30pm:  I walked for about 45 minutes today in Downers Grove around my mom's apartment.  When I walked I listened to some podcasts-- Busted Halo Cas episode #190 (Busted Halo Cast) Busted Halo Show with Fr. Dave Dwyer episode "Is God Mean?" (Busted Halo Show with Father Dave Dwyer), and half of Fr. Barron's Word On Fire sermon 428- Fourth Sunday of Lent-"Reading the signs of the times" (Word On Fire).

early afternoon-- 1-2pm: I went to my Special Olympics Seaspar Swim Practice.

midafternoon-- about 3:30 to 4:30pm: I walked again-- in Downers Grove by some tennis court, where my mom and a friend played tennis and I walked.  When I walked I listened to some more podcasts-- finished listening to Fr. Barron's Word On Fire sermon 428- Fourth Sunday of Lent-"Reading the signs of the times" (Word On Fire).  Then, I listened to the latest episode of The Saint Cast#118, Fr. Jim Martin on "Who Cares about the saints". (The Saint Cast)

Here is my motivation to walk-- in brief:  I can listen, or catch up, on listening to PODCASTS.
If you would like to great podcasts to listen to, visit www.sqpn.com.

Well, that's about it for now.  I'll try to update you again the next time that I've got a lot of health n' fitness to journal about.

Stay fit,
Daniel

My Exercise Update: Swimming N' Fit

Howdy followers of my health n' fitness journal weblog,

Today, I would like to update ya'll on how I've been exercising in the past 48 hours (2 days)...Here is how:

Sunday, January 11, 2009: I swam = 20 lengths*(laps) ; freestyle, breaststroke, w/ inter-mid. small breaks

TODAY: Monday, January 12, 2009: I swam = 30 lengths*(laps) ; freestyle, breaststroke, w/ inter-mid. small breaks.

Here's my GOAL: to try to swim 1 mile = 66 lengths
Can I make it? I think that I can, if I pace myself... If you take a look at the past 2 days, I started out with swimming 20 lengths, and then today (1/12/09) I swam the 20 lengths plus 10 more for a total of 30 lengths.
*Lengths: down to end of pool; 25 yards=1 length

So, that's about it for my exercise update for today (well, actually for yesterday and today)! So, until the next time that I blog to ya'll about my health and fitness update.
If you'd like to post a comment and leave some feedback, please feel free to in telling me how I'm doing, and also how ya'll are doing in staying fit!

Stay warm,
~Daniel

"Move It Forward": Today's Exercise Update!

Howdy Followers of my "new workout habit",

I have a quick post for you today, it's just a brief update on "moving it forward" on my exercise and being more fit.  Also, I plan to post a photo of being exercising/eating healthy.  So we we go...

First, for today's exercise: I "ran" quickly up and down the court, at the SEASPAR Slammers H.S. special olympics basketball team (my old team), today, taking a total of 208 photos.  I felt like I was still on the team, except I wasn't playing, 'cause running along side the court, taking pictures, is a lot of exercise--at least for me, today!

And, now, for today's healthy eating: At about 12:03 am on Wed., 12/09 (or late tonight--midnight), I ate  "tree-ripe NECTARINE(peal, label: #4378, chile).  I also ate an APPLE, which is from my Panera's lunch today.

Well, that's about all. I need my sleep. ~ I look forward to hearing your feedback to this, my previous, and all my posts-- OR whichever one you'd like to comment on. ~Thanks all for the encouragement (especially my Uncle Mark for his kind email feedback to my first post.  Talk to you all soon!

Stay Health N' Fit,

 ~Daniel

My Health N' Fitness Journey: Laying The Groundwork

photo above: 12/26/2008,
"The Belly: A Photo is worth a thousand words..."
"...so shall must be the reason for my top 2 new years resolutions--
see blog post that lists my 5 new years resolutions, including the reference for the starting of this blog!"

This is the first post in my health n' fitness journal!

I have been getting a bit of a "belly" and would like to try to reduce that and to get better in shape by eating healthier, and working out. So, I would like to update you all on on fitness stats for last Friday, January 2, 2009:

My workout /Fitness @ Five Seasons in the western suburbs of chicago:

I began with a warm-up...
1) Treadmill - I ran/walk on the treadmill and got my heart-rate up to about 120 to 212; for about 10 min.

Then, I began my "main-stream" of exercise...
2) Swim - I swam 50 yards freestyle and 50 yards breaststroke; for a total of 200 yards, or 8 laps; all for 5 minutes.
and then I concluded my fitness with relaxing in the "hot-tub". After that, I went back into the locker-room, wrote down the stats that you read above and when in to the "steam-shower" and then the "regular-shower".

Well, that's about it. I'll like to continue with this journal--and try to start a blog on this topic.

Thank you, Fr. Roderick for motivating me (and others) in being a healthier Catholic!
Also, a thank you goes out to my sisters--for making sure that I don't eat that much junk (same thanks goes out to my parents)!

Earlier last week (I believe it was 12/30/08 or 12/31/08), I walked and walked and walked around the down town area of my "small town" and over to the next "western suburb - small town" -- which gave me time to catch up on a few SQPN podcasts-- such as (in order of listened): Healthy Catholic, Daily Breakfast w/ Fr. Roderick, Technopriest, and Saint Cast ... (whichever episodes that were on or around 12/30-31/08.

I think that I am on the right path... if any else in the SQPN community has any encouragement, I'd love to hear your input.
